Medical oxygen in India must comply with the Indian Pharmacopoeia (IP), which requires a minimum purity of 99.5% along with strict limits on moisture and contaminants such as carbon monoxide. It is regulated as a drug under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, so its manufacture, filling and testing are licensed and documented.
